Welcome to CampusAgent ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our platform, website, and services (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Services.

We also operate Campus Market — a student marketplace for buying and selling items and services within the student community. Visit Campus Market to browse or create listings.

2. Definitions

• "User" refers to students and individuals looking for housing.
• "Agent" refers to verified individuals listing properties on our platform.
• "Platform" refers to the CampusAgent website and associated services.
• "Listing" refers to property advertisements posted by Agents.
• "Content" refers to all information, text, images, videos, and materials posted on the Platform.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use our Services. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

4. Account Registration

4.1 Account Creation

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
• Keep your password secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

4.2 Username Rights and Restrictions

We reserve the right to assign, change, restrict, or revoke usernames at our sole discretion. This includes but is not limited to:

• Usernames that violate our policies or infringe on intellectual property rights
• Usernames that are offensive, misleading, or impersonate others
• Usernames that are reserved for platform use or future features
• Inactive usernames that may be reassigned to active users

You acknowledge that you do not have a proprietary right to your username and that we may modify or remove it without prior notice if necessary to protect the platform or other users.

4.3 Agent Verification

Agents must complete our verification process, including submitting valid identification, proof of address, and business registration documents. We reserve the right to reject or revoke verification at our sole discretion.

5. User Responsibilities

5.1 For All Users

You agree NOT to:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Upload viruses or malicious code
• Scrape, copy, or steal content from the Platform
• Circumvent security features or access restrictions
• Use automated systems (bots) without authorization

5.2 For Agents

Agents additionally agree to:

• Only list legitimate, legally available properties
• Provide accurate property descriptions and pricing
• Use only authentic photos and videos of listed properties
• Respond promptly to user inquiries
• Honor all agreements made through the Platform
• Not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics

6. Content and Intellectual Property

6.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you post. However, by posting content, you grant CampusAgent a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content on the Platform.

6.2 Data Usage and Service Improvement

By using our Platform, you grant CampusAgent the right to use your data (including but not limited to user activity, property listings, search patterns, and interaction data) for the following purposes:

• Service Improvement: To analyze, improve, and optimize our Platform features, algorithms, and user experience
• Trend Analysis: To identify market trends, pricing patterns, and housing demand across different regions
• Machine Learning & AI: To train and improve our recommendation systems, search algorithms, fraud detection models, and other automated systems
• Analytics & Insights: To generate aggregated statistics, reports, and insights about platform usage and market conditions
• Research & Development: To develop new features, services, and products that benefit our user community

This data will be used in an aggregated and anonymized manner where possible. We will not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

6.3 Our Content

All Platform content, including design, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by CampusAgent or our licensors and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

6.4 Property Listing Retention and Deletion

To maintain the relevance and accuracy of our property listings, CampusAgent implements the following data retention policy:

• Automatic Deletion: Property listings that have been inactive or listed for more than 10 years will be automatically removed from the Platform
• Data Archival: Deleted listings may be archived for historical and analytical purposes but will no longer be publicly accessible
• Agent Notification: Agents will receive advance notification before their long-standing listings are removed
• Re-listing: Agents may re-list properties after deletion if the property is still available

This policy ensures that users have access to current, relevant property information and helps maintain the quality and reliability of our Platform.

7. Payments and Fees

7.1 Listing Fees

Agents pay a fee to list properties. Fees are non-refundable except in cases of technical errors or unauthorized charges.

7.2 Paid-to-View Content

Users may pay to unlock premium property content. Payments are processed securely through Paystack.

7.3 Refund Policy

Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis for technical errors or misleading content. Contact support within 7 days of purchase.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

9. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

• Posting fake or fraudulent listings
• Requesting payment outside the Platform
• Stealing or misusing other users' personal information
• Creating multiple accounts to evade bans or restrictions
• Engaging in any form of fraud or scam
• Advertising competing platforms or services

10. Fraud Prevention and Reporting

We take fraud seriously. If you encounter suspicious activity, report it immediately using our fraud reporting system. We investigate all reports and may suspend or ban offending accounts.

11. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Multiple user complaints
• Failure to complete agent verification
• Inactivity for extended periods

You may also terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support.

12. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

12.1 No Warranty

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR AVAILABILITY OF THE SERVICES.

12.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CAMPUSAGENT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION.

12.3 Third-Party Interactions

We are not responsible for interactions between users. Agreements, disputes, and transactions are between users themselves.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CampusAgent, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform or violation of these Terms.

14. Dispute Resolution

14.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to conflict of law principles.

14.2 Arbitration

Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except for small claims or intellectual property disputes.
